The Master of Strategic Studies (MSS) at the National Defence College (NDC-U) is a premier postgraduate program designed to prepare senior military officers and national security professionals for higher command, leadership, and policy-making responsibilities at the strategic level. The program integrates all instruments of national power—diplomatic, informational, military, and economic (DIME)—to holistically advance Uganda’s and the broader region’s security and development objectives.

Duration
The intensive program spans 18 to 24 months, meticulously structured to combine rigorous classroom instruction, immersive strategic exercises, insightful national and international study tours, and culminating in independent, in-depth research.

Upon successful completion of all academic requirements and defense of the Capstone Research Project/Thesis, participants are proudly conferred the prestigious Master of Strategic Studies (MSS) degree, awarded in affiliation with a nationally and internationally recognized partner university.
